How to choose the right speakers for your space

June 15, 2026 - ProAudio Brasov

Choosing speakers should not be based only on the power rating in the specification sheet. The right speaker is the one that covers the room correctly, keeps clarity at the required volume and works well with the amplifier or DSP processor in the system.

Start with the space

For a small room, a compact setup with 10 or 12 inch drivers can be enough. For outdoor events, weddings, clubs or loud music playback, you need more sound pressure and a setup with dedicated subwoofers.

Do not look only at watts

RMS/AES power shows how much the driver can handle, but sensitivity shows how efficiently it turns power into sound level. Two speakers with the same power rating can perform very differently if sensitivity, crossover and cabinet design are not correct.

Choose by application

- For speech and presentations, midrange clarity matters most.
- For DJ and electronic music, controlled bass and subwoofers are important.
- For live use, the system needs real headroom and good dispersion.

Conclusion

A good setup is selected according to the room, audience, music style and budget. If you are not sure, ask for a technical recommendation before buying the components.
